Who Are You to Play Small?

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented or fabulous?” Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we inconspicuously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles

The first time I heard this, about 4 -5 months ago, I thought, “Oh, why didn’t I hear this sooner?”

I love it! And I love rereading it- it is the epitomy of what we are here to do. Be our best selves. To me, that means first and foremost, to love. Our primary purpose is to love our Creator, our selves, our family and our neighbors. By treating our selves as we rightly should, that we are beautifully and wonderfully made, and loving our selves, it makes it easier to carry on with our day and being our best selves to others. And when others see us being our best, doing our best and therefore being happy, that is what can inspire them to do the same for themselves.

Make today the best day ever!
