Help for Teens-One Man Makes a Big Difference

I had the awesome privilege yesterday morning to listen to a great speaker.  Jason Evert.  He travels the globe speaking to teens who give him standing ovations on the topic of Romance without Regret.  In public, private or parochial schools, it doesn’t matter, he speaks to thousands of teens each year.  Even at a stadium w/ over 20,000 teens and received a standing ovation when finished speaking to them on why young people are waiting until marriage to be intimate, is on the rise.  Yes, that’s what I said.  Teen virginity is on the rise!  These kids are seeing the benefits of waiting, not just being scared from the consequences.  He is such a compassionate speaker, it is obvious he really cares deeply for these kids.

He gave a talk in the morning to us parents on how to teach, nurture and lead our kids into having that deep desire and commitment to wait until marriage before engaging in such activities.  He gave 10 great points on how to accomplish that and gave us many different facts on how teen sex not only is dangerous physically due to diseases, but also how now medical doctors are being encouraged by one of the top medical journals in the U.S. to screen teen girls for depression if they are sexually active- it was a staggering number, I believe it was nearly 100%- maybe 90- and I may have my figures a bit off, of teen girls who become depressed shortly after their first encounter.

Later in the day, he spoke to our area students grades 8-12, from about 6 schools and when my daughter came home, she couldn’t quit talking with such joy about his speech.  I HIGHLY recommend going to http://www.chastity.com and getting his material, and also look into getting Jason to come to your child’s school.  He has a way of communicating with these kids that captures their attention, and they enjoy listening.  He doesn’t pound into them his views, he helps teens come to their own conclusions on why waiting is best by helping them to see & understand the benefits.

I know this is quite a bit off topic from my other posts, but it’s what I felt compelled to write about this morning.

If you ever get the chance to hear this gentleman speak, make it a commitment to going.  If you’re married, if at all possible, both mom & dad need to be there.  His talk to the parents will help you together be on the same path on this topic as you strive to teach your children good solid morals & virtues.  And I dare say even help your relationship a bit!

I hope he’ll be able to come back to our area again soon, and we could use a few more men & women just like him out there supporting our kids as they go through a most difficult time of their life.  He’s one man that is starting that ripple effect.  Can one person make a difference?- YES!  And he is a prime example!  You can too!

Make today the best day ever!

Amy
